‘FG could’ve stopped insurgency with N4M,’ House of Reps member says

Boko Haram terrorists

House of Representatives member, Sani Zorro has said that theBoko Haram insurgency could have been averted with the sum of N4 million.

Zorro explained further that after the death of the sect’s leader,Mohammed Yusuf in 2009, his followers made some demands that would have cost the government less than the current war against terror.
The legislator, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Refugees, made the comments while speaking during a recent meeting organised by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Abuja.
“We need to negotiate with these bad boys, honestly,” Zorro said according to Daily Trust.
Zorro said that after Yusuf’s death, the insurgents asked for the rebuilding of their mosque and compensation for the death of five members “which would have cost the government not more than four million naira, but today we have lost lives and we are still spending money to curb insurgency.”
Zorro represents the Gumel/Maigatari/Sule Tankarkar/Gagarawa Federal Constituency of Jigawa state.
