A statement issued by Colonel Sani Usman, Acting Director, Army Public Relations, revealed that the trio have been declared wanted because they are in possession of information on the conditions and the exact location of schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram from Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, in 2014.
The Army said its action is based on relevant laws.
The statement read: “The trio have been declared wanted because they are in possession of information on the conditions and the exact location of schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram from Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, in 2014.”

“We are relying on the relevant laws of the land and in particular the terrorism prevention Act 2011 (as amended), where Nigerians could be punished for failure to disclose information about terrorists or terrorist activities.

“This becomes necessary as a result of their link with the last two videos released by Boko Haram terrorists and other findings of our preliminary investigations.

“They must, therefore, come forward and tell us where the group is keeping the Chibok Girls and other abducted persons to enable us to rescue them.”

The Army called on the general public to provide information on the whereabouts of the wanted persons, adding that it is working with other security agencies for their arrest if they fail to turn up.

Salkida is a prominent Nigerian journalist who has remained a credible source of information about Boko Haram activities.
He is currently on self-imposed exile.

Hunters want to join Army in fight against Boko Haram

Shekau

Hunters from the 27 local Government Areas in Borno have called on the Nigerian Army authorities to let them join the fight against Boko Haram.

The hunters say they can fish out members of the sect who are hiding in the dreaded Sambisa forest, because they know the terrain.
Punch reports that the Chief Hunter of Borno, Mallam Maigana Maidurma said “We are renewing out call on the military authorities to allow us join the search for Boko Haram elements in their Sambisa forest hideout.
“We are ready to pursue the terrorists because we know the terrain in and out.”
Maidurma said his men are not afraid of the landmines which the sect members reportedly buried in the forest.
He also boasted that his men have supernatural powers that will help in the war against the insurgents.
He said “We know that it is true that the Boko Haram terrorists are in the habit of burying landmines to prevent encroachment into their hideout.
“But we believe that we can work in collaboration with Local Vigilantes, called Civilian JTF, to overrun them.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Andrew Pocock, the former British High Commissioner to Nigeria, revealed in a report that the United States Of America (USA) and the United Kingdom (UK) spotted the location of the Chibok girls, but did nothing to rescue them.

Arrested suicide bomber says she's one of kidnapped Chibok girls

Chibok girls

A young suicide bomber, who was on the verge of blowing herself in northern Cameroon, has claimed she is one of the 219 schoolgirls kidnapped in the town of Chibok, Borno State in 2014 by Boko Haram, military and local government sources said.

According to Reuters, two girls wired with explosives were intercepted on Friday, March 25, 2016, by local self-defence forces in the village of Limani, Cameroon, and were handed over to soldiers belonging to a multi-national force set up to take out the terrorists.
The village is said to be the target of frequent suicide bombings in recent months.
“One of them indeed declared that she is one of the Chibok hostages. She is around 15. We are now verifying, because on the Nigerian side they have the names and photos of these girls,” a local government administrator, Raymond Roksdo.
Two other military sources were said to have also confirmed that one of the detained suicide bombers claimed to be one of the abducted Chibok girls.
“We need a few days to be able to confirm this information. We have to debrief all the men who were present and interrogate the two girls before we can say anything,” one of the military sources said.
In a high-profile attack that sparked a global outcry, Boko Haram militants raided the school in April 2014 while the girls were taking exams. They loaded 270 of them onto trucks, though around 50 escaped shortly afterwards.

Boko Haram: ‘Terrorists still holding territory in Borno,' Resident says

Boko Haram terrorists

Despite reports of resounding success against Boko Haram, a resident of Borno State has said that the sect is still holding territory in the area.

Ngari Modu, a transport official in the Nganzai area of the state, told the Associated Press that the government’s claim that the sect no longer holds any territory is confusing.

“All we know is that Boko Haram lacks the capacity to carry out their usual commando-like attacks during which they march in and run down towns or villages, but that is not enough to say that they are not around,” Modu said.

“We are left confused each time we hear soldiers saying no territory is now under the control of Boko Haram,” he added.

Modu’s account comes after General David Rodriguez, commander of the U.S. Africa Command, said that Boko Haram still holds “significant territory in northern Nigeria.”

The amount of territory being controlled by Boko Haram had earlier come into question after Borno State Senator, Baba Kaka Garbai said that the terrorist sect still controls 50 percent of the state.

“It is a wrong assumption that most of the local governments in Borno are recaptured from the Boko Haram. In reality this is not true in the sense that apart from Maiduguri Metropolis, Bayo and Kwaya Kusar, these are the three local government that are under the occupation of the Nigerian government where the military and police are maintaining law and order,” Garbai said while speaking to journalists on Saturday, February 6, 2016.

“Mobbar, Abadam and Kala Balge are 100 percent occupied by the insurgents. There are some local governments that are partially occupied by the insurgents especially as the local government secretariats have been liberated but their hither-lands are still controlled by the insurgents.

“Though Gwoza town has been liberated there still remain six wards in Gwoza local government area still occupied by the insurgents. From my count, only three local government are fully liberated, 21 local governments partially occupied by insurgents, that is there is still some level of Boko Haram occupation side by side the military or any other constituted authority.

“The local government fully occupied by Boko Haram are Abadam, Mobbar and Kala Balge. We should not live under the illusion that Boko Haram are decimated or weaken, these are not reality and neither a true reflection of the reality. The reality is that most of the local government in Borno is partially occupied by Boko Haram,” he added.

Garbai’s claim was however swiftly denied by the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has insisted that Nigeria has overcome Boko Haram and that the sect is no longer a threat to the country.

Gallant Soldiers Catch Boko Haram Most Notorious Leader

It was another day of victory for our gallant soldiers in the battle field and defeat for Boko Haram as troops of the Nigerian Army accosted a gang of the insurgents at a border community in Borno state, shot and arrested one of most notorious leaders who has been on the list of ‘100-wanted terrorists’.

According to Army sources, a gang of Boko Haram were intercepted at a fishing community known as Daban-Masara in Kukawa area of Borno while trying to ferry over 200 litres of Petrol.

The insurgents, led by their arrested leader, who was labelled Number “95” on the ‘100 Wanted Terrorists’ list, attempted to resist the Troops of 7 Multinational Joint Task Force Brigade’s stationed in Baga and 118 Task Force Battalion, but were effectively overwhelmed.

Spokesman of the Nigeria Army, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, confirmed the development and said the troops “sprang an ambush along Daban Masara axis usually used by Boko Haram terrorists elements to convey logistics on Thursday.

“At the encounter, one of the suspected wanted Boko Haram terrorists leaders who is serial number 95 on the first Nigerian Army wanted list of 100 Boko Haram terrorists leaders, was fatally wounded in the exchange of fire.

“He later gave up while receiving medical attention at the base, while other members of his team escaped with gun shot wounds. The troops recovered 7 Jerri cans of 30 litres containing 210 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), motorcycles and food stuff in addition to arms and ammunitions”.

It was gathered that the dead leader of the Boko Haram had been a major motivational sub-leader of the insurgents in that axis of Borno.
