EFCC charges ex-Head of Service to court over N190M fraud

Stephen Oronsaye

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged former Head of ServiceStephen Oronsaye to court on allegations of fraud to the tune of N190 million.

Oronsaye was arraigned before an Abuja High Court in Maitama today, March 15, 2016.
According to the EFCC, Oronsaye fraudulently obtained the funds in abuse of his position as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on the Financial Action Task Force in 2013.
The N190 million is said to be part of a N240 million grant which the committee received from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Oronsaye had earlier been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, July 13, 2015, and was granted bail on self-recognition.
Presiding judge, Justice Gabriel Kolawole had based his decision to grant Oronsaye bail on the fact that former Senate President, Ken Nnamani had agreed to stand as his surety.
