Ex President’s uncle freed by kidnappers
Mr. Inegite Jonathan, the 72 year old uncle of former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was allegedly kidnapped by gunmen on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, in Bayelsa state, has been released.
A spokesperson for the Bayelsa Police Command, Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the incident, said “The victim has been released and reunited with his family but I am yet to get the detail.”
You will recall that the four policemen who were supposed to be protecting the uncle and foster father of former President Goodluck Jonathan,Inengite Nitabai at the time of his abduction, were arrested by the Bayelsa state police command.
Reports said GEJ’s uncle had earlier been kidnapped sometime in 2014, but was released by the Joint Task Force (JTF),Operation Pulo Shield, at Akipli Community.
Meanwhile, former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has said he does not regret helping ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to become President.
Also top politicians in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),have threatened to expose GEJ, if the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrests them.
Jonathan said he decided to concede defeat during the March 28, 2015 elections, because he already knew what the outcome of the polls would be.
