Biafra: MASSOB says police secretly killed 20 of its members

Nnamdi Kanu, director of the banned Radio Biafra, was detained by secret police on 17 October and accused of terrorism.

The Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has accused the police in Anambra State of secretly killing 20 of its members.

The allegation was made by MASSOB Regional Administrator, Anambra West, Wilfred Aninze, according to Vanguard.
The secret killing came to the limelight when one of our members, Okechukwu Joseph, was reported missing by his wife,” Aninze said.
“Early this year, 10 of our members were declared missing and from the report we got, they were secretly arrested and killed by the Police without the knowledge of our members.
“We learnt that the police top shot in the country had a meeting with all the State Commissioners of Police, and in the meeting, it was resolved that MASSOB/BIM members would be secretly caught and killed.
“By the end of February, the number of those declared missing which we suspected to have secretly been killed stood at 20. We will not continue to keep our hands akimbo and watch our members being killed without committing any offence. We are a non-violent organization fighting for a sovereign state of Biafra,”he added.
According to Aninze, members of the Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) are also being targeted by the police.
Pro-Biafra protests have intensified in recent times due to the arrest and detention of Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Kanu was arrested in October 2015 and is currently being held at the Kuje Prison in Abuja on charges of treason.
