The Senate has passed a resolution saying the killings that took place in the Agatu area of Benue state, was carried out by members of the Boko Haram sect.
Speaking on the resolution, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha said the sect members have destroyed lives and properties in Taraba state also.
Bwacha also said “The Senate is aware that that Nigerian Army has recorded tremendous success in the war against insurgents in the States of Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa.
“There is a change of tactics by insurgents who now parade as herdsmen to make it difficult for the public to identify them.”
You will recall that a spokesman for the Fulani herdsmen, while speaking on the Benue clash, said they retaliated because the Agatu people killed their cows.
The Fulani herdsmen have been accused of several violent attacks and killings in states like Adamawa, Enugu, Delta, Oyo to mention a few.
They allegedly killed eight people in a fresh attack in Logo Local Government Area of Benue state.
The herdsmen have also been named as the fourth deadliest terror group in the world by the Global Terrorism Index (GTI).
