The chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Micah Jiba has begged members of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NLUGE) to call off their industrial action.
Jiba told journalists in Abuja that the chairmen of the six area councils and the FCT administration are doing everything possible to ensure that the three months salaries they are yet to receive is paid.
Jiba who is also the National President of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), said the union must be patient with government of the FCT and the council chairman urging them to return to work.
Jiba who sympathized with the workers at the area council level, promised to lobby the national Assembly to ensure that the issue surrounding the vehement is quickly settled.
He said they are working on a bailout fund to be release from the FCT administration.
"We have agreed to with the FCTA to receive a bailout from them and we as the area council chairmen have also agreed to pay the remaining one month balance but since the FCT Administration not operate with state Assembly so we have relies on the National Assembly to pass some certain bills and act before things will work right in the FCT and its area councils.”
