The dinner night held last night, but the charity football match scheduled for today has been cancelled. Some guests are even stranded in Turkey following the lockdown of their major airports.

fraud: N700m pension Fraud Was Uncovered In Imo State
The Imo State Government has said that it has uncovered a high level of fraud that has been on for many years in the state Pension Board. The fraud, the sate said was allegedly perpetrated by highly placed officials in the Board in concert with some retired civil servants.
The disclosure was made recently by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Owerri, Chief Uche Nwosu in an interview with our corespondence.
According to Nwosu, the state government discovered the fraud following an audit panel it instituted adding that those indicted by the findings have been removed including the boss of the Board and an entirely new staff deployed to the Pension Board.
The Chief of Staff stated that the fund resulted from the accumulated pension of N1.3 billion in contrast to the authentic pension of N600 million which is an increase of above 100 per cent.
Reacting to non payment of pension arrears that recently resulted in protest in the state by pensioners, Nwosu stated that the state government was not in denial that it was not owing Pensioners. He, however, promised that the state government would by the end of this month (July) clear the arrears, noting that the state government had in recent months embarked on cleaning the Aegean stable in the State Pension Board as well as ‘ghost pensioners’ discovered during the audit probe.
Nwosu stated that the Governor, Rochas Okorocha has the interest of Pensioners at heart and that the State Labour Congress has been briefed on the government commitment to clear the Pension arrears very soon.
He also refuted the reports that the state is ‘broke’ following a recent report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBs) that listed Imo State as one of the states that risked bankruptcy as a result of its low Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The Chief of Staff said that the fundamentals of the state’s economy remains strong in spite of the financial downturn in the nation’s economy. In this regards, he said that following the reorganization of the state’s internal revenue sources, the State’s IGR has increased appreciably to over N600 million a month.
He assured that the government has designed strategies that would further increase the state’s finances and make it less dependent on federal allocation.

He said the EFCC and its collaborators in the All Progressives Congress should wait till 2018 after his tenure when he would confront “their lies.”
Fayose said, “The EFCC did more than this in 2006 but when I challenged their cooked up stories on poultry project in the court, the EFCC failed to substantiate all their allegations against me and their case crumbled like a pack of cards.”
Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor accused the anti-graft commission of concocting stories in an attempt to tarnish his image.
He said,
“If what the EFCC and its collaborators are now relying on is a driver or a source in EFCC that speaking for Zenith Bank, and not the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd) that they claimed gave the former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro money to give me, goodluck to them.
“The EFCC and its spin doctors can continue to cook up stories and feed their collaborators in the media. The media trial can continue unabated, I am not moved. I am more focused, more resolute, I don’t lose battles. The one that they did in 2006 did not ultimately prevent me from having a second term as governor of Ekiti State and whatever they are doing now will also not stop me from handing over to a Peoples Democratic Party governor in 2018.
“I will meet them in court and the whole world will again listen to their feeble stories as it happened in poultry saga.”

The number of dead from a coup attempt in Turkey has risen to 90, the state-run news agency Anadolu reported on Saturday, adding that 1,154 people were wounded.
Nearly 200 unarmed soldiers at the Turkish military headquarters have meanwhile surrendered, an official said, adding that special troops were currently securing the complex.

Hoodlums Attacked PUNCH journalist As DSS, Policemen Watched (Read Details )
Sodiq Adelakun,a photojournalist with The PUNCH, was on Friday brutalised by hoodlums as policemen and operatives of the Department of State Services at the scene refused to help him.
The incident occurred when the Joe Ajaero-led faction of the Nigeria Labour Congress allegedly disrupted the 59th Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association at the Alausa area of Lagos.
The protesters-cum-hoodlums picketed the leadership of the NECA over alleged anti-labour activities.
According to eyewitnesses, the members of the labour faction stormed NECA’s yearly meeting, carrying placards and singing solidarity songs.
They said the NECA Director General, Mr. Olusegun Oshinowo, should stop victimising workers by supporting massive sacking in the private sector.
However, the situation grew worse when some of the protesters sped to the scene in two yellow buses, beating the journalists in attendance and disrupting the event.
According to Adelakun who was a victim of the attacks,
“As I got to the scene of the protest, around 12pm, I was just doing my work. I was taking pictures and conducting interviews. All of a sudden, some men inside two yellow buses approached in full speed. Once they appeared, people started running helter-skelter. They were shouting, ‘Collect their cameras, injure them, kill them, beat them.’ All of us journalists started running.
“Where I was, there was a trailer blocking me, so I ran under it. One of them dragged me out and gave me a big blow. I fell. I hit my head on an iron. As I tried to stand up again, he gave me an uppercut. Another came from behind me and used a broken bottle to stab me in the back. My back hurt. He tried to stab me in the stomach, but I used my bag to defend myself and I was lucky. Only my bag tore. Another one came with a gun and threatened me that if I raised the camera, he would shoot me down. That was when I dropped the camera. As I dropped it, another hoodlum came and started ransacking my pocket. He took my phones, my camera and wallet. Then I fell into a gutter. As they were turning to leave me, after taking all my belongings, one came again for me and gave me a big blow in the eye. I fell again into the gutter and blood started flowing from my eye.
“When they finally left me, I tried entering into the security gate of a school beside the NECA building. The security operative there was about opening the gate for me when the hoodlums told him that if he did so, they would shoot both of us, so the man shut the gate. Meanwhile, there was a DSS officer in front of the building and I was begging him to help me; I said I was a journalist, but he just looked away.”
Adelakun added that the hoodlums took control of the area for about 10 minutes, injuring many and smashing vehicles in sight.
“The hoodlums controlled the area for over 10 minutes. They were smashing some buses and motorists started reversing. I could not see again and waited for five minutes until a colleague came to help me. They also injured some TVC and Channels TV journalists. They destroyed many properties,” he said.
In a reply to a text message to the NLC factional leader, Ajaero, for his reaction, he simply said, “Your reporter and photojournalist were present. Publish whatever report they brought.”

Adopted from China when she was just two-years-old, Sophi lives with adoptive parents Christianne and Jeremy in Herriman, Utah.
The couple was quick to realize just how much she was able to do without arms. Christianne said: ‘I remember when we had just adopted her and we got Sophi her first ice cream cone. I was ready to feed it to her and I held it out and she just snatched it up with her little foot and started eating it all by herself. We were just completely amazed and knew from that point that she could just do anything.

Femi Falana Tells Buhari, Osinbajo, Saraki, Governors -You Can Be Arrested While In The Office.
Human right activist, Femi Falana says a sitting president or governor who commits any crime can be arrested and tried, saying according to the Supreme Court ruling, there was no longer absolute immunity. The Senior Advocate of Nigeria said immunity does not extend to electoral fraud and asked Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu to face the forgery charges against them rather than politicking about it, saying “they have no immunity to dodge the charges against them.’’.
He said this while speaking on:

“The senate is now politicising the issue, saying it is political victimization but not that the offence was not committed. As leaders of the National Assembly, you are supposed to be above board and that is even the more reason you must be careful.
“But I want to remind the senate that the Attorney General of the Federation is only answerable to his boss, who is the president and nobody else.
“The same thing applies to the states, so there is no longer absolute immunity in this country.
“And that is why what is happening in Ekiti today about money found in a bank and the governor is saying it is illegal to freeze his account that is not true.
“Any issue that is criminal in nature must be treated as such,” he declared.

Touching Confession: How I Became A Prostitute At The Age Of 13 And HIV Possitive. Tenager.

Blessing Bassey Okon from Etop, Akwa Ibom State was an innocent girl who was forced into prostitution at the age of 13, a time she was supposed to be under the care of her parents. Her father died immediately after her birth and thereafter, her mother remarried and left her with her mother- in-law who could neither feed her well nor train her due in school.
That therefore, created a loophole and made her feel rejected. At a point, she started to seek a better parental care. Her grandmother, who was taking care of her tried her best and was hoping to get a support one day.
Coincidentally, an offer came and it was that of a professional prostitute who disguised as a businesswoman. The woman who stays in Calabar and a relation traveled home and convinced Blessing’s grandmother that she needed someone to assist in the shop where she sells rice.
According to Blessing, the young lady gave her grandmother N4000 and took her to Calabar.
“When that Aunty came to my village to pick me, she deceived my grandmother that she had a big rice shop which she wanted me to manage. She gave my grandmother some money and the old woman asked me to go with her. In fact, I was very happy because I wanted to leave the village to an urban area, so I would have the opportunity to engage myself in one trade or the other, since there was no one to support me”, she stated.
Blessing also explained that on getting to Calabar, her madam, instead of taking her to the shop where she would manage, she was taken to a hotel room for prostitution.
“Unfortunately, it was when we got to Calabar that I understood that what I went to do was prostitution. She showed me a room and instructed me to ensure that I deliver enough money to her otherwise I would die of hunger. I felt bad and wondered what to do. After much thought, I remembered that I had no option than to obey her directive. So grudgingly, I started the job. I wanted to report to my mother and grand mother what I was going through, but due to lack of mobile phone, I could not. While doing the job, I used to deliver between N10, 000 and N20, 000 to my madam on daily basis. It was from the money that she feed me and pay for my room. Sad enough, I was not given any cash, even when I was the one who used my body to make the money”, she said.
As God would have it, Blessing managed to hide some money from what she made to buy a phone worth N2,000, so as to narrate her ordeal to her family members. She ended up being disappointed when she called and explained to her grandmother her condition but she encouraged her to go on.
“When I reported to my grandmother that the lady she gave me to later introduced me to prostitution business, she was not bothered, rather, she advised me to try to cope, in order to survive the hard times. From her statement, I understood that it was a planned work. She even later gave me one of my sisters to join me in the business.”
Like other prostitutes, Blessing was busy hustling for customers and making some money for her madam. But one day, some policemen stormed the hotel and arrested her for being in the business as an adolescent.
According to her
“I was in my room when some policemen came. When they saw me, they were surprised because of my age. So, they arrested me. the following day, my madam sent someone to bail me from the police detention. When I left the station, a woman I did not know took me to her house and was giving me food. I was really satisfied and comfortable than the place I was.
At a time, her son started abusing and beating me for eating their food, without doing anything for them. As a result, I left the place and went home to inform my mother, instead of discouraging me, she also encouraged me probably due to the bag of rice and other items I gave to her. So, when I returned, I decided to leave my madam to be on my own. Thereafter, I started going from one hotel to the other and was making some money, but could not see what I did with it.”
Though Blessing was into the business, her spirit was not there as she prayed on daily basis for God to remove her from there to a better place where she would have a rest of mind and be proud of who she is.
“While in the business, I contacted HIV from one of my boy friends. Even at that, I was still having s*x with several men.
But I do not know whether they also contacted HIV or not. At a stage, I began to get worried about my condition and a possible way out because I could save money to do any reasonable thing from what I was doing. So, one day, some church people who introduced themselves as members of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries in Calabar came to preach to us in our hotel. Their message centered on repentance. And as they preached to me, I was touched to heed their advice to leave the job and join them, but another mind told me not to go. But after much thought, I made up my mind to follow them to church.”
Initially, when she joined The Lord’s Chosen in Calabar, Blessing was not still free.
“Even when I joined The Lord’s Chosen, the demons in me were still at work. And, I was fighting with some members regularly, on little provocation. But the members advised me not to do such things in the church, yet I did not listen. One day, I prayed God to remove the demons in me and those in my siblings because we are known to be troublesome people in our community. Good enough, I was managing myself to attend the Church and they were really working hard to deliver me.”
Blessing’s turning point eventually came when she was brought to a recent programme organized by the church in Lagos.
“I was brought to The Lord’s Chosen Crusade in Lagos from Port Harcourt on Friday, June 10, 2016 by their members. They sent me to Port Harcourt branch from Calabar. Then from there, they brought me to Lagos for this programme. When the 2-day programme started on Saturday and prayers were offered, I felt relieved of the problems I used to have. I also noticed that the HIV has disappeared because I do not notice some of the symptoms I used to have. What is left is for me to be tested to be medically sure.”
The young girl who has denounced prostitution asked God and those she has offended in the course of her business to forgive her.
“I want God to forgive me. I also want those I have wronged to forgive me also. I want to start a new life. I want to be a child of God and do not want to go into prostitution any longer. So, what I need now is a job and accommodation to enable me take care of my self.”
